The Universal Service Fund (USF) hosted a Network Facilities Licence Orientation in Lilongwe to prepare industry players and prospective bidders for upcoming communications infrastructure projects under the USF and the Digital Malawi Acceleration Project (DMAP).
Conducted in collaboration with the Public Private Partnership Commission (PPPC), the orientation equipped participants with practical knowledge of the Network Facilities Licence application process, ensuring they understand the regulatory requirements for participating in national connectivity projects.
The session also highlighted the role of the USF in expanding communications infrastructure to rural and underserved communities, where commercial investment is often limited. Participants gained insight into how the USF, together with DMAP, is driving efforts to bridge the digital divide by extending reliable digital services to more Malawians.
By strengthening stakeholder understanding of the licensing framework, the orientation is expected to encourage broader private sector participation in the rollout of communications infrastructure. This reflects the USF’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for investment while accelerating progress towards universal access to ICT services across Malawi.
