  • USF and MACRA Engage Stakeholders on Next Phase of the Connect A School Project

On June 10, 2025, the Universal Service Fund (USF) and the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority – MACRA conducted a stakeholders’ consultation meeting at BICC in Lilongwe with consultants and contractors involved in the Connect A School (CAS) project. The purpose of the meeting was to assess the progress of Phase 1, which involves constructing 75 ICT labs, and to prepare for Phase 2, aimed at building an additional 118 ICT labs throughout Malawi.

In his remarks, MACRA Director General Daud Suleman described the Connect A School project as groundbreaking. He highlighted that individuals trained and employed through the initiative are now equipped with skills that enable them to work for other companies, demonstrating the project’s broad impact.

The project has generated employment opportunities for local Malawians and increased business for local suppliers engaged in its execution. Phase 1 of the ICT lab construction is nearing completion, providing a solid basis for the effective implementation of Phase 2.
