Powered by the Universal Service Fund (USF), the highly anticipated film Welcome to Maula Prison has officially premiered in Lilongwe, Blantyre, and Mzuzu, capturing national attention and sparking meaningful conversations around justice, rehabilitation, and storytelling in Malawi.
Produced by 4KAYA Films and proudly supported by the Universal Service Fund (USF) under the Local Digital Content Development Initiative, the film is a bold and emotional portrayal of life inside Malawi’s Maula Prison. Shot on location, Welcome to Maula Prison seeks to challenge and change public perceptions of correctional facilities—shifting the narrative from punishment to rehabilitation.
The film had its grand premiere at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe on May 2, 2025, followed by screenings in Blantyre and Mzuzu on May 3 and 4, respectively.
