Connect A School
The Connect A School Project is a flagship initiative by the Universal Service Fund (USF) aimed at transforming education through digital inclusion. As the first project of its kind in Malawi, it seeks to establish state-of-the-art SMART ICT Laboratories in schools nationwide and provide reliable internet connectivity for a period of three years. This ambitious initiative is a direct response to the goals outlined in the National ICT Policy and the Malawi 2063 Agenda, both of which emphasize youth empowerment and prioritize digitalization as a cornerstone of national development.
Each SMART ICT Lab is designed to accommodate up to 60 computers, creating an enabling environment for students and teachers to access digital learning tools and opportunities. In alignment with USF’s core mandate of ensuring equitable access to digital services and technologies, the project is strategically positioned to bridge the digital divide in Malawi’s education sector.
Phase 1 of the project includes the construction of 75 ICT laboratories, while Phase 2 is set to expand to 120 additional schools across the country. By improving access to ICT infrastructure and connectivity, the Connect A School Project aims to serve as a catalyst for digital adoption, improve digital literacy among young people, and ensure that no learner is left behind in the digital era.
